Sean Maze is a multi-faceted American artist based in East Harlem, New York. Primarily focused on mural painting, his work tends to employ a vibrant color palette, playful graphic style, and ethereal 2D compositions very much in dialogue with the built environment. Drawing mostly from the visual language of dreams, he is inspired by kitsch, street art, mythological imagery, sunsets, and in particular- the aesthetics of retro wave /vapor wave design. He describes most of his work as abstract landscape painting- be it vaguely representational fragments of scenes or windows into geometrized dreamscapes.
Amongst ongoing mural projects and the development of a new body of work, he is frequently collaborating with architects, designers, and a variety of local business owners to transform spaces with murals both public and private- from single walls to kaleidoscopic full interiors. He is open for commission, collaboration, design, and installation throughout the New York City area and beyond.
